#Towers: Junior Cricket at Darwen
At Darwen, we are fully committed to junior #Towers cricket sections, which are the future of our club. We are proud to say that junior cricket is thriving here, with full cohorts at all ages right from 5 years old through to age 18. We have junior teams representing the club in local leagues from the age of 11.
The junior section is sponsored by AFB Flooring, who put so much energy and effort into supporting the club, and our #Towers in particular. We really appreciate and value Andy and Fran's sponsorship and commitment to the club.

AllStars: Ages 5 to 8 years
All Stars Cricket provides a fantastic first experience for all children aged 5-8 years old where they’re guaranteed 8 weeks of jam-packed fun, activity and skills development at Darwen Cricket Club.
The programme, which takes place on Wednesday evenings between 6:15pm to 7:30pm, is designed to introduce children to the sport, teach them new skills, help them make new friends and have a great time doing so. Every child that registers will receive a personalised t-shirt, bat, ball and backpack.
Sessions are managed by fully DBS-cleared coaches from the club. To encourage participation, the club aims to offer coaching and training well beyond the advertised 8 weeks. This year, taster sessions are planned on 29 April and 6 May before the official start date of 13 May.
Dynamos: Ages 8 to 11 years
Dynamos Cricket provides a fantastic next step for all those graduating from All Stars Cricket and the perfect introduction for all 8-11 year-olds new to the sport!
Dynamos is all about fun and provides children with a more social offer, focusing on developing the fundamental skills required to play cricket. Every child who registers will receive their very own Dynamos Cricket t-shirt, personalised with their name and number.
Like AllStars, Dynamos takes place on Wednesday evenings between 6:15pm to 7:30pm and sessions are managed by fully DBS-cleared coaches from the club. As with AllStars, we aim to offer coaching throughout the summer with taster sessions on 29 April and 6 May before starting proper on 13 May.
Under 11s, u13s, u15s and 18s:
For Dynamos in school year 6, we offer the chance to represent the club in fixtures against other local clubs. Matches are always soft ball, eight-a-side, with every player involved in batting, bowling and fielding. The emphasis is on enjoyment, developing core skills and learning the game.
At under 13 level, from school year 7, hard ball cricket is introduced. Practice sessions still take place on Wednesday evenings, and cricket is now more competitive, with games against most local clubs in an organised league. As with younger groups, all cricket is supervised by experienced coaches, who help players improve according to our mantra"Fun, Develop, Play".
As we reach the older age groups, the standard continues to improve, and as well as playing competitively against other local clubs, players in these age groups are often in contention for places in the senior teams.
