Our Community
Darwen Cricket Club is at the heart of our community, providing support and facilities for local groups and organisations to flourish.
We work regularly with local organisations and charities, supporting a wide range of initiatives that benefit people in our community. We also work with charitable partners on initiatives such as mindfulness and wellbeing programmes, and helping older people stay active and alert through cricket.

We also have an enthusiastic team of volunteers that support the club in many ways, from planning and organising matches and practice sessions to keeping the ground and facilities in first class condition. This page highlights some of the recent work we've been doing.

Rothwell Arts Dance Academy
The Academy held their "Big Singing Showcase" in November at the club, with the room packed to the rafters for an emotional evening of fantastic singing!

According to Miss Vicky from the Academy: "There wasn’t a dry a dry eye in the house for most of the evening!"
September & October Volunteers of the Month
Reece Davies and Keith Frankish are our two stalwarts who were recognised by the club as Volunteers of the Month for September and October.

Reece was the man behind our Senior Presentation Evening, ensuring a fantastic celebration of our season, whilst Keith was our unseen hero co-ordinating all our junior fixtures throughout the summer, keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

Walking Cricket with Age Concern
With the opening of our new Cricket Dome, we've been running Walking Wednesdays together with Age Concern.
The regular events aimed at over 50s combine an hours' gentle cricket followed by a relaxed chat and a coffee in our clubhouse afterwards.
Partnering with local schools
A key objective when planning and funding our new Cricket Dome was to partner with local schools to give more youngsters the opportunity to play cricket and dream of becoming stars of the future.

We're proud to have hosted several school visits already, and this will continue to be a regular occurrence as we support the development of local cricketing talent.
